New Jersey Healthy Corner Store Initiative
In many NJ communities, it’s easier to find
grape soda than fresh grapes…
Gov. Christie can change that NOW
Right now, Gov. Christie has the power to reduce the rates of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain cancers and bolster economic development in communities across the Garden State. With a stroke of his pen, he can make a strategic public investment in programs like the New Jersey Healthy Corner Store Initiative that increase healthy food access.
These programs transform local corner stores — common sources of junk food and soda — into community retail anchors that profitably sell affordable, fresh food to their customers. In turn, jobs are created, tax-revenue is raised and healthy options are increased.
Learn more about the benefits Governor Christie can bring to communities across NJ by including public funding of food access programs like NJ Healthy Corner Store Initiative in the 2016-2017 New Jersey budget.
